In Trip Gabriel’s article, “Plagiarism Lines Blur for
Students in Digital Age” he declares that is it becoming so much easier for students
to just copy and paste an article off the Web. He also claims that professors did
not care so much at one point as long as the student credited his source. He
backs up his claims by stating that most undergraduates did not learn how to use
sources and take certain pieces out of them and turn the words into their own. In order to inform the reader on plagiarism,
Gabriel gave a number of reasons why undergraduates plagiarize. One example was
that those students who actually walk into the library to receive a source they
feel like they own the source. With an online article students do not feel like
they own it. I feel Trip Gabriel’s purpose of this article was in open the eyes
of undergraduates to plagiarism and to help them become more careful with their
sources.
