The argument David Brooks is making in his article “Why Men
Fail,” I think is very accurate because I believe women are so much stronger
and are able to stay more focuses then men. Yes, women are not able to climb
that high on the corporation ladder because most of them take time off to raise
children. Many women in their 20s which is before they have children out earn
men that are in their 20s. For anyone to be successful today they must be able
to sit still and focus attention in school. One must also be emotionally sensitive
and aware of context and able to communicate smoothly. These tasks are usually
difficult for most men. In the book “The End of Men” written by Hanna Rosin, she
relates women to immigrants that have moved to a new country. They are able to
adjust to new social context and have the ability to adapt to new surroundings.
She also states that men in a new country still focus on the old country such
as speaking the old language or follow old habits. Rosin also states in her
book that women are more likely to go back to school and pursuing a career,
unlike men that just sit around and wait for jobs. According to a study by the National
Federation of Independent Business most small businesses that are independently
owned by women usually outperform male- owned small businesses. There is also
evidence that women who have gone through a divorce or marital breakup are more
likely to adjust easier than men and there is also evidence showing they raise
their income by 25 percent. I believe the argument has many valid points and
the evidence that women are more able to succeed within business can be seen throughout
many communities.
